A format where losing once does not eliminate you. Every entrant drops into a losers bracket after a first loss and is only out after a second loss. ### How does the losers bracket work? Entrants who lose in the winners bracket drop into the losers bracket and keep playing there. The losers bracket champion meets the winners bracket champion in the grand final. ### What is a bracket reset, and can I turn it off? If the losers bracket champion beats the winners bracket champion in the grand final, both have one loss, so a second final is played to decide the title. Turn bracket reset off in settings if you want the first grand final to be decisive either way. ### How many matches are in an 8 or 16 entrant double elimination bracket? It works out to 2n minus 2 matches, plus one more if a bracket reset happens. That is 14 matches for 8 entrants and 30 for 16, with an extra match if the reset is triggered. ### How are byes handled in the losers bracket? An entrant who receives a bye in the winners bracket has not lost a match, so they do not drop into the losers bracket. Byes only affect the winners side of the draw. ### What is the maximum bracket size? 32 entrants. A 64 entrant double elimination bracket would need 126 matches, which is too large to stay readable on one screen, so it is not offered here. ### Should I use single or double elimination? Use single elimination for a quick knockout where one upset should end a run.
